If you saw a break in the bushes as you were driving down the road, what would you do? Personally, I prefer to slam on the brakes and turn the steering wheel. The person next to you might be a bit upset that you’re going to make them late to whatever it was you were driving to, but heck you can’t beat some good off-roading time! So just point it towards the bush and gun it…

Even their smallest best winch, the Smittybilt XRC 3.0, is built like a tank. That is the Smittybilt reputation, and while I have not used every product they make their winches definitely fall into that category. The XRC 3.0 has a pull weight of 3000 pounds, has a 3.9 HP motor and a 136:1 gear ratio (and a 153:1 gear reduction ratio). It is a self-locking winch with the remote control included, and when you buy this or any of the Smittybilt powerhouse winches you get the 4Wheel Drive Hardware 90 day price match guarantee and the great customer service that 4Wheel Drive Hardware is known for.

Armagnac is a pale golden, fiery, dry-tasting French brandy. Under French law, only white grapes from the Haut-Armagnac, Tenareze, and Bas-Armagnac regions of Gascony, in southwest France, may be distilled for Armagnac. The distillation takes place after the grape harvest, which occurs between October and April. Unlike cognac, its younger cousin, Armagnac has traditionally been made with only one distillation, but a recent change in legislation means double distillation is now allowed, speeding up the maturation process, which takes place in oak barrels.

Although this list is in no particular order, Rock Rails (sometimes called rocker guards) are my number one choice for top billing. Rock rails protect the entire side of your Jeep, including saving your doors from dings at the mall, trees on the trail, and sliding sideways off a steep hill into a giant boulder. (I’ve had all these things happen to me, and my Jeep still has no scratches or dings on the rockers or doors.) There are many choices out there, but some of the strongest ones I’ve seen are actually the stock Rubicon rails. They don’t stick out too far which is a negative, but there are aftermarket weld-ons that can take care of that. If you want style however go for some beefy aftermarket ones LOD Rugged Ridge and Smittybuilt electric winch have some good choices).

Additionally, the bathroom I designed for her was a wet room. Everything in the room best winch could get wet and the floor was built so it sloped to a center drain. The walls were all made from cultured marble and the floor was tile because a large slab of cultured marble would be too heavy; we could not carry it in. There was no wood in the room, no wooden cabinets, nothing that could not withstand getting entirely wet. The wall basin was a handicapped-type basin she could bring her shower chair to; the toilet was also a handicapped toilet with special grab bars so she could hold onto that.

In order for you to avoid the bad experiences we had, we’ve put together some helpful DOs and Don’ts that all vacationers considering chartering a boat should know…

More than half of trailer troubles come from mistreated wheel bearings. Grease and clean the wheel bearings, and make sure this is done twice a year if you do more than average distances. This should be done even more often if you regularly submerge the wheels. Better still, when you are launching the boat, run the trailer back only far enough to let the water lap onto the wheel rim.
